Di Maria punishes the recent team with two goals as PSG wins without Neymar or Mbappe
Without the services of Neymar, Edinson Cavani, and Kylian Mbappe, PSG still managed to take care of Real Madrid on Wednesday in the team’s Champions League group stage opener, 3-0. Neymar was suspended, Cavani (hip) and Mbappe (hamstring) were both injured, and PSG was going to have to rely on either Angel Di Maria, Mauro Icardi or both to carry the load.
Paris Saint-Germain swept Real Madrid aside with an proficient display in a 3-0 win over the 13-time European champions
The Argentine and ex-Real Madrid man Angel Di Maria, scored double in the first half to lead PSG to victory. Thomas Meunier added a late goal to make it 3-0.
Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema beat Navas from close range in the 77th minute, but the goal was dictated out for a Lucas Vazquez offside.
Full-back Meunier wrapped up an emphatic win when he scored from close range one minute into stoppage time following a PSG counter-attack.
Zidane by contrast never really looked like he had an idea here.
The extent of this challenge is now seriously growing, as PSG again suggests they are growing as a team.
Before this match, the absence of Neymar and Mbappe had seemed to strip it of some of its intrigues. That ended up only adding to it, as PSG could have so easily added to an already humiliating scoreline.
